A note from the Author
Hi and welcome to the Convergence. I decided to become a novel writer when I returned to my hometown in Pennsylvania – A far cry from my life in Southern California and Hollywood as a filmmaker. Although, it has been an experience I'll never forget, I must admit my first attempt as a novel writer was rather challenging, but the premise of star-crossed lovers suddenly caught up in the spontaneous alteration of their future fascinated me. The idea of Crimson Indigo nearly eliminating each other from history was exhilarating. It's the culmination of otherworldly experiences, alternate realities, time travel and past life conspiracies mixed with the flavor of a good mystery filled with intrigue, set against an alien landscape of alternate worlds. So, grab your favorite beverage, sit back, put up your feet and join me on a journey of imagination.

I'm a graduate of California State University with a Masters degree in Cinema/Television Arts, Screenwriting, and creative writing. A former comic book publisher and Hollywood filmmaker who lives in Pennsylvania, where I am hard at work on the next book in the series, while teaching film studies at a local college.
I began my film career as a visual effects artist at Van der Veer Photo Effects (Star Wars, Back to the Future, Towering Inferno), while attending the University of Southern California’s prestigious USC film school. My previous endeavors at Van Der Veer Photo Effects included work on such films as Back to the Future II and III, Final Verdict, Not of this Earth, Suburban Commando, Dark Backwards, Blame it on Reno and a variety of commercials. My stent in the art world was as co-production designer on the feature film APEX, and I did design work on the Avatar logo at 20th Century Fox while attending the California State University. I've written, produced and directed numerous programs, commercials, and PSAs for local television in Southern California. My current endeavors include designs for Of Crimson Indigo, Convergence, a series of science fiction novels and various screenplays with a proof of concept short film now in development and preproduction for filming.
What to expect ...
I'm technically innovative and creative, with technological proficiency in concept design, art direction, production design as well as novelization and screenwriting. I'm a producer/director with strong interpersonal relationships and communication skills. I've had the privilege of passing on knowledge at one of the top Liberal Arts colleges in the Eastern United States as part of the video and film departments, while teaching eight different courses in film studies over the past seven years.
I began my career at Van der Veer Photo Effects, a Hollywood visual effects company on the edge of Burbank and Glendale, California, while attending the University of Southern California's coveted School of Cinema/Television Arts. My professional background and experience stem from being a comic book publisher, writer, illustrator and filmmaker, local television producer-director, as well as a feature film production designer and special visual effects artist. While attending the USC's School of Cinema/Television Arts I worked as an artist doing storyboards, concept art, rotoscoping and title artwork, which led to a career in production design, while establishing the groundwork for my own film projects. "I decided to return to school in 2005, finding academia to be the perfect place to flesh out the multi-trilogy design of a new project." A FEW ADDITIONAL THOUGHTS ...
Life impacts me from many avenues. I’m a father, a widower, a grandfather, a father-in-law, a mentor, a storyteller, a science fiction fan, a movie buff and I even enjoy a good TV show on a weekly basis. I try to be a friend to all ages as well as those who come from all walks of life. I never thought I'd like being an instructor, but what I’ve experienced has brought me a whole new world of friendships, some of which I feel are extraordinary. I'm positive, and I believe in respecting others and their ideas. I listen and learn as much from them as they do from me. My own life has been painted with shades of black, white and grey. I've experienced death, my wife's journey with ALS: a vicious disease that took her life in as little as two and a half years. I've survived three types of cancer, raised myself from sorrow, found joy in the world, and believe anything is possible. I believe in myself, in that struggle to overcome all obstacles and find answers to those questions that give credence to growth as both a storyteller and a man. I've handled nuclear weapons, been granted awards for being a military maintenance man of the month, even enjoyed a unique opportunity to join the crew of a rescue helicopter. Perhaps that is why I pride myself in knowing that both my sons are pilots and my two daughters professional women. They add such wonderful dimensions to life's purpose.
I love a lively debate that makes stories better. It’s that collaborative force that we identify with that spans from everyday experience, adding a whole new dimension to the overall elements that remind me of who I am. Rekindling those basic instincts brings such excitement and understanding to the creative process that sparks new life into old ideas and an understanding of what's important in life. I watched my wife die a little more each and every day. It took a year to diagnose her illness. And we got the word on April 15. It’s a date I can never forget. I watched her cry, comforted her, and grieved with her. We knew what was to come. My wife was a surgical technologist and she spent her life helping others. She commanded the Operating Room and worked hand in hand with surgeons on a daily basis. She was a fantastic woman, my best friend, lover, and mother of our children. She was encouraging and nurturing. She believed in life and was a wonderful companion to travel with until I became her nurse, physical therapist, respiratory therapist, and a host of other things that are to numerous to mention, and too painful to recount. Just suffice it to say I spent 8 to 12 hours a day learning how to be everything for her for 4 months during her hospitalization after she had a double heart attack brought on by the onset of ALS. Changing her trachea materials and feeding tube needs, feeding her, and experiencing her pain taught me a lot about life, and the meaning of love, compassion and kindness. Planning her funeral was the hardest thing I ever had to do, but she requested everything be ready for her passing, which we did.
Now it is time to move on, to bring new understanding to my continuing pursuit of new creative endeavors. As an open-minded professional with development experience, I believe that I can bring valuable contributions to your team. I just missed working on Return of the Jedi when I worked at Van der Veer Photo Effects in conjunction with ILM; although, I did get the chance to help on scenes from the Indiana Jones movies. Since then, I've witness the wonders of story translated to filmed entertainment, and experienced the blockbuster spectacle of everything from the original Star Wars theatrical release to Disney+ and The Mandalorian and a thousand other films.
Since my time as a soldier in the US Air Force as a nuclear munitions technician, and as an asset member of the California Air National Guard, I’ve engaged as a filmmaker, a storyteller, an instructor and professor. I’ve learned to care for the ill, trained to change the outcome of conflict, all while exploring otherworldly places as a novelist, a digital illustrator and a feature film production designer. I’ve experienced life, and witness some pretty amazing experiences including producing and directing local television in Southern California. I believe in the creative process, innovative approaches and solutions to business challenges are an inspiration to me and drive me through today’s collaborative world with emphasis on observation, inspiration and determination, all of which, I consider the path to success. Timely completion of any perspective requires discipline and focus. My philosophy is one of collaboration, to evolve and grow, to remain on the cutting-edge of advancements and fulfill my goals, which stems from my need for quality, as well as management talents.
As an Adjunct Professor of Cinema Television Arts, at Lycoming College, I cultivated a reputation as a major contributor through communication and critical thinking skills as a well-received instructor amidst the student body of the Communications Department, Film and Video Venue. I’m a team player, and recognize the importance of imparting new and innovative insights, positive change and impacting outcomes.
Thank you for reviewing my online portfolio. I wish you all the very best,
