BACKGROUND
From concept to finished cover, the process begins with a background illustration, or photo composition that depicts the storyline. In this case, the great machine comes to life bridging the doorway to another universe, altering the threshold of two universes in a wave of energy that opens a gateway to the convergence of alternate realities. A layer of cloudy mid-ground is then added to blend the thresholds and finally, the title and wording is added to complete the cover design.

Creating covers starts with designing the deep background. In the case of Points of Origin, the first novel in the Of Crimson Indigo series, the background needed to reflect the essence of Crimson red and the darkness within Indigo blue representing the two sides of their relationship both present and past. Next the reality of the great machine depicted in the story needed to be brought to life in such a way that it represented both halves of the whole. In this case, the threshold to two realities.

FOREGROUND TITLE
The final cover design had to emphasize the blending of two lives, while depicting the lost souls who once lived in the essence of living light, so the combination of light sources  provoking the needed to remember who we are and where we come from in such a way as to bridge the story and bookend the finale cover in a simplistic resonance which leaves the viewer fixated on the Roman Numeral for two.

The concept for the Roy Odyssey trilogy needed to bring to light the alternate realities the story presented. Variations on a theme, one of being lost, with no way home. The Flight of the Phoenix, book one in the Roy Odyssey trilogy needed to be vibrant and full of color in order to depict the changing environment our young space travelers would have to both love and fear in order for them to survive. It seemed appropriate that the striking reds and oranges could only be enriched by a cavalcade of striking purples and darker blues to highlight the sky presented on the cover. The theme continues across the trilogy adding familiarity to that which preceded it, allowing for ​the new version of the saga to take its place in the annals of Roy's Odyssey. ​
The second series of books related to the crossover of one universe for another, In this case Convergence, needed to depict the thought behind the name and provoke the only consideration possible, night must fall and with it, the last frontier. The Cosmos is a big place, so it felt important to overlay a monstrous structure to emphasize the rising darkness within the story, yet leave a glimmer of hope for resurrection. The sun will rise again, and so will the heroes faced with the reality of an ever changing world.
